More About Lisa

Lisa enjoys spending her free time in Maine, and is an expert at cracking lobsters.

Lisa R. Wichter

Lisa Wichter is an experienced health care and medical malpractice defense litigator. She represents medical professionals, hospitals, medical practices, and other healthcare-related businesses from allegations of malpractice, as well as employment, discrimination and wage/labor-related matters before the federal and state courts, and administrative agencies, including the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine.

Lisa also advises doctors, nurses and hospitals on licensing matters and employment relationships, and has provided guidance to women in the medical profession - in particular, how to effectively navigate the medical malpractice and litigation process.

In addition to litigating cases in the court system, Lisa has also been successful in resolving malpractice and employment matters at arbitration and mediation, including numerous settlements.

Lisa also analyzes and educates others about the impact of Chapter 224, Act of 2012 on the practice of medical malpractice.

Representative Accomplishments

Lisa has provided assistance in successfully defending numerous health care providers in medical malpractice trials, including most recently:

  • Obtained a jury verdict in Suffolk Superior Court dismissing a medical malpractice claim against a gastroenterologist accused of failing to properly treat a patient, leading to a delay in diagnosis of colon cancer.
  • Obtained a jury verdict in Suffolk Superior Court dismissing a medical malpractice case against an emergency medicine physician who allegedly failed to order radiological imaging in the Emergency Department, resulting in a ruptured aneurysm and permanent neurological impairment.

Lisa also has a significant motion practice and routinely obtains favorable results for her clients. For example:

  • Persuaded a Massachusetts Superior Court judge to issue a protective order on behalf of a doctor, where multiple depositions of the physician were sought.
  • Successfully argued before Massachusetts Superior Court judges that the confidentiality of Board of Registration in Medicine investigations should be upheld, and documents related to the investigations should not be produced in response to keeper of records requests.
  • Obtained Superior Court dismissals in wrongful termination claims for health care providers.
